The British Embassy Study Group >
Year 6

Dear Year 6 community,

We have reached the end of two exciting weeks: our ‘Healthy Living Week’ and our ‘Book Week’. These have been very successful and we have enjoyed many topical trips and themed work.

In between we have been looking at ratio and proportion in our maths. This will continue next week. Also myself and Mr. Downing have arranged a new interactive web-based maths learning platform that children can practice on at home. I have introduced Year 6 to this so that they can begin straight away (each child has an individual login and password); more information will follow . . . In English we have been practising our reading skills, visiting recording studios and looking at stories in our ‘Book Week’. Next week we will continue with descriptive writing and reading. We have begun our topic on ‘Chemicals’, by looking at elements, compounds and mixtures and will move on next week with some practical work with chemistry, examining some famous discoverers and exploring natural dyes! We shall also finish our ICT with paired powerpoint presentations to the class.

For homework we are continuing our SATs preparation, with a calculator paper and reading.

Kind regards,
Mr. Unsworth
