Suzanne opened the meeting by going over and ratifying the minutes of the FPTA and AGM meeting for the 31st of May and announced tonight’s meeting was the final meeting of the FPTA for 2006-2007.

The main points of discussion were the Summer Fair. Suzanne discussed the subcommittees and how everyone is progressing.

Food and Drink: Donations are being made by Coca Cola however the company is unable to donate beer due to Turkish law so the FPTA must provide this. Everything else is in hand, Lemonade, Pimms, and Hotdogs etc.

Games: Dawn Akyurek submitted the plans for the obstacle course and it will now take place using the grounds, the woods and green pitch. Due to the large scale of the course it was decided by Steffi Sutherland that the course should now be run by the teachers and the slide show be run by the Year 2 parents. Concerns were that the games committee would not be unable to find enough parental volunteers to man the obstacle course.

The FPTA decided against water games this year due to the “Environmental” theme of this year’s fair. However, David Draper has agreed to take part in the “Teacher Humiliation Game” that will be a part of the obstacle course where children will have the opportunity to shoot at David with a controlled amount of water from a water gun or something similar. The teachers have agreed to arrange this.

David Laity mentioned they were having problems finding volunteers to man the Year 4 “Build a Bird Feeder” project and asked that if parent reps from other classes had extra volunteers to please send them his way.

Mark mentioned that part of the problem finding volunteers could be that in the past month he has had to ask Class Reps to find parents for several events such as and they are over taxed. Suzanne suggested that maybe next year the school and FPTA should consider “spreading out” the requests for volunteers over a longer period of time rather than all at once.

No quiet activities room this year since coloring will be held in the Slide Show room during intermissions.

Health and Safety: Glynis will be arranging a First Aid table with a sun screen station as well. Libas will be selling the newly designed BESG hats and donating the sunscreen for the Sun Station.

Decorating Committee: Suzanne Snook is in charge of this committee and is currently trying to recruit volunteers.

There will be two bouncy castles one for infants and one for juniors. There will be a 5 minute time.

1 token is equal to one lira.

The AICC will be having their Fishing Game again. They will collect tickets and then swap them for money at the end of the day.

Raffle Prizes: 1 YTL per ticket of a strip of tickets for 5YTL. Suzanne is still waiting on several prizes and asked if the word could be put around for more.

Finance: David Laity discussed the FPTA’s current finance. At the moment 119 journals have been sold so far and due to sales the FPTA will not contribute to the journal this year. Suzanne announced the distribution of the journal will on the 26/06/07. Also a 130YTL was raised from the jumble sale.

The new FPTA President for 2007-2008 announced she is currently looking for new members to be part of her committee.

At the end of the meeting Mari Suphi presented Suzanne with a gift of appreciation on behalf of all the committee members and class reps for all her hard work over the past two years as FPTA president. Suzanne was very appreciative and thanked us for all our help over the past year.

The meeting closed at 20:00.
