Suzanne opened the meeting by asking for votes on approval of
the March 12th meeting minutes, and April 23rd meeting minutes. All approved.
Suzanne reported that the Year Book is in the process of
being produced, this year’s edition to be smaller, due to money
restrictions. It will consist mainly of photographs for
children to cherish their year long memories. So far, over
1,000 YTL has been collected from the parents towards the Book,
and additional 1,034 YTL is waiting to be contributed form the
previous Year Book Committee.
Jumble sale will be on June 9th, from 11 – 2 pm. Daffodils
money to be collected during the “Summer Fair”, Melahat
volunteered to handle the “collection basket”.
Photo shoot session went well, with a comment from Suzanne
about not being able to collect payment from several parents.
The way of collecting the payment should be rearranged next
year.
Summer Fair will be held on 23rd of June, from 11 – 2 pm.
Subcommittees have been formed: Suzanne to chair the F&B
subcommittee, Stephanie games, which will include environmental
quiz, “build a bird feeder” activity, obstacle course, as well
as quiet corner with coloring pages. Dawn will contact
Jose (last name escapes me), for details on slide
show/presentation on conservation. Additional activities,
such as tattoos and raffle, will be organized with the help of
teachers. A possibility of organizing a “sun-screen
station” within the nurses’ first aid center was discussed and
Suzanne will put it forward to Glynis. David Laity will be
in charge of tickets and tokens. Suzanne mentioned the
need of possibly organizing a “Decorating Committee” which would
need a creative person as a chair, to come up with recycled
material decorations for the playground. Susie Snook was
suggested as a candidate due to her art background. The
discussion reminded Stephanie to ask for crushed drink cans for
“how-many-in-the-bag” game.
Sports Day will be on June 27th. The event schedule
will be provided to the parents. It was decided to use the
schools water bottle with cups for water distribution.
Help from two parents, one for Infants and one for Juniors, will
be needed at the water station. Ice pops will be also
provided. Extra year books to be sold at the event.
Financial report by David Laity reminded the FPTA that the
generous loan for the Board of Governors was repaid in full,
leaving the FPTA with 453 YTL in the bank account. With
the prospect of collecting additional 3,000 YTL during the
Summer Fair, the FPTA will be able to fulfill their commitment
of 1,500 YTL for the additional playground equipment, and leave
the new committee with a healthy start-up amount at the bank.
Teacher’s appreciation lunch will go ahead as scheduled, on
June 15th.
Next, and the final meeting of this years’ FPTA will be on
June 14th at 7 pm.
Dawn kindly thanked the FPTA and what they had done for the
school this year. Suzanne acknowledged this and also thanked the
school and staff for all their help over the past year.
The meeting closed at 18:55.
