MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE FRIENDS/PARENTS TEACHER ASSOCIATION OF THE BESG HELD ON
TUESDAY 17 OCTOBER AT 7:00PM IN THE SCHOOL HALL

Opening Remarks and Welcome

1. After some grumbling about the absence of biscuits, Suzanne welcomed the group informing them that the meeting would concern only the Guy Fawkes celebration.

Guy Fawkes Celebration

2. Suzanne announced that Angelica Hanley and Steffi Sutherland would organize the games for Guy Fawkes.

3. The games/events, locations, and those responsible for running them:

Fishing Game Nursery Year 3 parents
Quiet Activities Reception  
Hairbraiding Year 1 Year 5 parents
Tombola    
Face Painting    
Bean Bag/Ring Toss Year 2 Year 2 parents
Disco    
Raffle    
Food and Drink   Year 6 parents

4. Suzanne announced that set-up for Guy Fawkes would begin at 2:00 – 3:00pm on November 4, 2006; the celebration would run from 6:00 – 8:00pm.

Committees

5. The following committees (committee members) were established:

Raffle (donations still needed)
Ticket sales (Mary Suphi and Jane Ergen)
Disco (Dawn Akyurek)
Face painting / tattooing
Hair braiding (Dawn Akyurek)
Mulled Wine (to be donated)
Health and Safety (Peter Bridge and Suzanne Alten)
Games (Angelica Hanley and Steffi Sutherland)
Food (Wendy Dix and Suzanne Alten)

Effigy

6. Dawn Akyurek volunteered to make the Guy Fawkes effigy with the help of the Year 6 students.

7. Suzanne promised to have the straw for the effigy by November 2nd.

8. Suzanne announced the Burning of the Guy would commence at 7:35pm in the Michael’s driveway and immediately followed by fireworks.

Food Payments

9. David Laity announced that food and drinks during the event would be exchanged for tokens that could be bought during the event. David said he would handle the details for the process.

Other Business

10. Suzanne announced she would return from the U.K. on November 1st with miscellaneous things needed for the Guy Fawkes celebration.

11. A decision was made to include a hot chocolate table at the event and Suzanne promised to purchase and donate the necessities from England.

12. Suzanne mentioned she had received most of the class lists from the individual representatives. She promised to resend her emails concerning the FPTA lists to those representatives who had not originally received them.

13. Someone showed the group a laminated wallet-sized card that contained her class’s phone tree and contact information. David Draper said that he would arrange for the school to laminate other class’s lists if needed.

Date of Next FPTA Meeting

14. The next meeting will be a brief one to finalize all Guy Fawkes business. It will be Thursday 2nd November at 12:00 noon in the Year 3 class room.

15. The next full meeting of the FPTA will be Wednesday 22nd November at 7:00pm in the school hall.

16. Meeting closed at 8:00pm.
