Opening Remarks and Welcome
1. Suzanne opened the meeting by
welcoming all new members and asking everyone to introduce
him/herself.
Approval of Previous Minutes
2. The Committee approved the minutes of the previous
meeting held on Tuesday 13 June 2006.
Emergency Calling Tree
3. Suzanne said that she would like to have the Class
Lists and the Emergency Calling Lists finished by the end of the
week. She also said that these Emergency Lists were to be
treated as confidential. It was asked that there be an Assistant
Class Representative for each class in case the Class
Representative was away.
4. Suzanne told us that there will be a new system in
place this year, this will involve text messaging as well as an
emergency line for parents to call to check if school is open or
going to be closed for any reason.
Recent and Forthcoming Event Dates
5. Suzanne reported that the Welcome New Parents/Children
BBQ that took place on Saturday 23 September in the Red Lion
Club has been a success. It had been well attended by 60 people
including children.
Harvest Festival – Thursday 28 September
6. Suzanne asked for volunteers for Wednesday afternoon
and Thursday morning to help set up for the Harvest Festival
Celebrations. There were a substantial number of volunteers so
this posed no problem.
7. The follow events were scheduled for the rest of the
year:
| Sat 4 November |
Guy Fawkes Party. This year we will
be able to have a bonfire on the hard surface in Michael
Roberts garden. It was also suggested that the menu for
the evening be changed from hot dogs to jacket potatoes
and chilli. |
| Fri 15 December |
Christmas Special Guest. We have a
possible candidate to act as our special guest. He will
be approached and this will be confirmed at the next
meeting. |
| Fri 16 February |
Pancake Day. Following on from the
success of last year it was decided to continue with the
event this year. As well as the usual sweet fillings a
healthy option of fruit will also be available. |
| Sun 25 March |
Easter Egg Hunt and Hot Cross Bun
Day. This will be a new event for the FTPA. It will be
advertised as a fun day for all the family. |
| Sat 23 June |
Summer Fair. This will be the final
event of the year for the FPTA. A theme still needs to
be decided. |
It was also suggested that two Italian
evenings should be held around Valentine Day, one for children,
the other for parents/adult. These will be held in the Red Lion
Club.
It was also decided that each term the FPTA will be holding a
Sunday Bingo afternoon, as well as a dessert day.
Finances
8. In David Laity’s absence Suzanne reported that there
was currently 447YTL in the account. She also reported that £750
had been paid back to the Governors in respect of the loan to
cover the cost of erecting and fitting a drainage system for the
newly purchased climbing frame in the woods.
9. It was decided that this year the FPTA would purchase
an Optic Christmas Tree. The expected cost would be £100.
10. Dawn was asked to a find out any wish lists from
teachers, and it was hoped that we would be able to buy one or
two items later in the year.
11. A vote was taken on whether we wished to pay KDV/VAT
on items purchased by the FPTA. This would mean receiving a
proper receipt. The vote was unanimous against paying, as long
as a receipt was given on the back of a business card or
something similar.
Governor’s Meeting
12. Suzanne reported that at the Governor’s meeting it
had been decided that there would no longer be an
Annual/Journal. It was agreed that Angelica would sent out a
note informing parent of this decision. Bobbi immediately agreed
to form a fundraising committee to support the Journal this
year.
Any Other Business
13. Suzanne said that we would be holding our Annual
General Meeting next spring. Date not yet decided.
Date of Next FPTA Meeting
14. Next meeting will be on Tuesday 17th
October at 7.00pm in the school hall.
15. Meeting closed at 8.05pm.
