Newsletter

It has been another busy week in school. It was good to see so many of you at Parent Teacher Consultation evenings this week.

I know many of you are very concerned about Swine Flu. At this present time we do not have a confirmed case of the disease in our school.

Please The school has a Pandemic Influenza Contingency Plan which the school is closely following in terms of :

Ensuring hand washing regimes are in place.

Liquid gel hand sanitizer in all classrooms and available to children during the day.

Extensive disinfecting and cleaning of the school three times a day especially toilets, door handles and guide rails.

Any child or member of staff showing signs of flu is sent home immediately.

Be Healthy!

Handwriting Competition

We would like to challenge the children to enter our very first handwriting competition. All they have to do is: choose a poem write it out in best handwriting decorate it and give it in to Mrs Akyurek by Monday October 18th.

There will be a prize giving at assembly!

TEAM POINTS

Children are awarded team points for positive behaviour and good work. These team points are collected every week and added up to reach a grand total at the end of the school year. Team points are also read out in assembly on Monday morning.

Red Lions  50
Yellow Tigers   62
Blue Boars   63
Green Dragons  64

Cold Weather

I have noticed there are many children coming to school without coats. Please remember that your children are all expected to go outside to play. As the weather turns colder make sure they have a warm coat.

Coughs and Colds

Help us to have a healthy school by ensuring your child knows to wash their hands frequently and use a tissue for runny noses. We have signs up in the school encouraging children to sneeze into their elbow rather than their hands.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE ILL OR HAVE A FEVER

LIBRARY NEWS

There will be a book sale at the FPTA Guy Fawkes event, to raise money for ever more, new and exciting books for the library.

If you have any books to donate, I will be very grateful.

Thank you for your support.

Punctuality

We are operating a Late Book, which records every time a child is late into school in the morning. We totally understand that on occasions your child might be late for a perfectly good reason, but what is very clear is that we also have a number of children who are habitually late for school. Being on time for school enables a child to get involved in the learning alongside everyone else; being late disrupts not only that child’s learning, but the learning of others.

Doors open at 8.20. Lessons start at 8.45. Please deliver your child in plenty of time, so he/she can sort out coats / bags / book folders, etc. and be ready for the day at 8.45.

I will be contacting families that seem to be struggling with this.

Websites of the Week

Children in our school love to write poetry. I thought I would share a super website which is brimming with humorous and quirky poems about all sorts of things. Not only can children read such wonderful examples of poetry, but they can actually listen to poets perform their poetry.

Information for Parents Who Have Chosen to Order Greg’s Lunchboxes

The lunch supervisors and I monitor all the children at lunchtime. If a child eats less than half of their lunch box, their name is recorded. If a child eats less than half of their lunchbox for three or more days in one week I will write an email/letter to the parent informing them of the situation.
