SECURITY: The Study Group’s location within the Embassy compound means that we have to adopt certain security measures. These especially concern the issue of passes, which can be issued to parents of all children and the maids / nannies of Nursery age pupils only.

The use of passes is regulated by the following rules:
   1. The guards will only allow access with a pass
   2. If you forget your pass you may not be admitted and will have to wait for further identification as a minimum
   3. The Embassy is responsible for all security and may change regulations at any time
   4. Even with a pass times of entry are limited
   5. Passes will be required for social occasions and evening meetings

Parents whose children do not go home on the buses collect their children from the Study Group gate. Those with passes will be granted entry after 2.50 pm. No child will be allowed to leave the grounds unless the parent, or a person authorised by the parent and bearing the appropriate identification, collects him / her from the school gate.

If a child’s arrangements for going home change in any way parents should notify the office as soon as possible and by 2.30 pm at the latest. After this time we cannot guarantee the message can be acted upon. If there is any doubt, and parents cannot be contacted, the original arrangements will remain in effect.

SNACK: Children may bring a mid-morning snack (e.g. a biscuit or fruit) which is eaten in the classroom before the morning break by Infants. Juniors eat during the break. This should be packed separately from lunch, and should be simple and easily eaten. Filtered water is provided throughout the day for children, who should all bring a plastic mug with their name clearly labelled.

SPELLING: The Study Group teaches a British English form of spelling. Allowances are made for children (particularly from North America) who have developed an American English spelling system.

SPORTS DAY: This is held during the last week of the school year. All the children take part and compete for a shield, which is presented to the winning team.

SWIMMING: During the warmer months (usually May and June) the Study Group is fortunate to have use of the British Ambassador’s pool. This is supported by a group of parent volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help with the swimming (no qualifications needed) please contact the office.
