PARENT GOVERNORS: The Board of Governors has two parent representatives elected by the parent body. These governors are available for parents and are the direct contact for parents with the governing board.

PASTORAL CARE AND DISCIPLINE: The ways in which children learn to co-operate, to be considerate and responsible and to value truth and honesty are parts of school life, and a vital part of growing up. The Study Group promotes this by establishing a caring community which is seen to be both fair and just for everyone.

Children behave badly from time to time as they struggle with their feelings and build relationships. Normally these incidents are dealt with by the staff in their role ‘in loco parentis’. However, with any more serious incidents parents will be contacted and invited to discuss the matter. In very serious situations, children can be excluded from the Study Group.

What we hope is that during their time at the Study Group all children will gain a clear understanding of what is expected of them, a sense of right and wrong and a sense of their own personal worth, both individually and to the community.

PHOTOGRAPHS: During the year we take photographs of individual children, classes and the whole school. These can be purchased by parents and are also used in our Yearbook. If parents have any issues about their children's photograph being used in the Yearbook or other such documents we ask them to let the Head or Deputy know.

POLICIES: The Study Group has a full range of policies, related both to the curriculum and general organisation. These are available for parents to see by application to the Study Group office.

PTA: The BESG Parent teacher Association (PTA) serves as an auxiliary and voluntary organisation of the BESG. All parents and guardians of students attending the BESG are members of the PTA, as well as teachers and support staff. The PTA’s guidelines for its activities and management, as well as its aims and objectives, are set out in a constitution, which is available to members on request. The PTA sponsors a variety of events and activities throughout the year. Monthly committee meetings are held, which are open to all members. Dates and times for meetings are announced via the newsletter. Please contact the current President (contact details available from the office) for more information.
