STREP THROAT

Dear Parents,

I wish to let you know that same children in year 6 and Reception have been reported as having "strep throat" (known as "Beta" in Turkish) in our school. As this is usually treated with antibiotics to try to reduce complication risk.

If your child develops symptoms of throat infection you may wish to let your medical provider know or consider a throat culture for your child to rule out this illness. As you may know most sore throats are viral and they are not treated with antibiotics.

If your child is diagnosed with strep throat, please do not send them back to school until at least a full 24hours of antibiotic treatment has been completed.

Please help us to keep the germs confined, do not send your child to school at any time if she/he is sick.

Our school policy is to inform parents the incidence of this infection, hence my note to you today.

There are many websites giving extra information but a useful one is

There are other ones.
