Nut containing foods

Please could I ask parents of infant children in particular to remember that we do not wish to have food items containing tree nuts brought in to school( peanuts are fine). Although nuts are a very nutritious part of most people’s diet, we do have some children who have varying degrees of nut allergy and one who has had life-threatening reactions.

Okulumuzda cok cıddı (hayatı tehlıkesı olan) fıstık alerjısı olan cocuklardan dolayı fıstıklı (antep fıstıgı ve fındık gibi) yıyecekler gondermemenızı rıca edıyoruz, Ama yer fıstıklı yıyecekler gonderebilirsinız, Gostermıs oldugunuz hassasıyete sımdıden tesekkurler.

Medicines

Winter infections often mean we have more pupils taking medicines. Parents should note that NO MEDICINES should be brought to school by a child. An adult should hand the medicine along with a form fully completed by the prescriber or parent. Please see the website to obtain further information and forms. Also, parents are welcome to see our full medical policy if requested.

Eye Checks in school

I have spoken with a local ophthalmologist about the possibility of conducting eye checks in school because I notice that most local pediatricians do not have the facility to conduct any kind of eye examination as per our health forms.

If such a test was done in school it would be much more economical for parents because the cost would work out at about 20 YLT per child or perhaps less, rather than the typical 150 YTL consultation fee. It would cover the following (I quote the Dr)

‘The screening would involve an eyesight check, an ocular motility
examination to detect any latent squint, a test for color blindness, a
test for stereo vision and a quick look at the back of the eye to
cover the major landmarks. It would in effect be a quick exam’

Would you be interested /willing to benefit from this? Please let me know by mail as I would like to gauge interest before proceeding further at this point.

Spare Uniform
I would appreciate donations of small trousers for use in emergencies.

Healthy Eating

If your child is one of the many exposed to advertising of low nutrition foods you may be interested to read a report on proposed restrictions on food advertising during children’s TV time from the UK. This and many other interesting reports and ideas on nutrition are accessible through the British Nutrition Foundation website as below:

www.nutrition.org.uk

Also, the website http://www.5aday.nhs.uk/

This has lots of healthy eating information with fun and games for children on the subject.
