NOTICE FOR PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTIONS
25th February 2010
Dear Parents,
We have had two applications for the Parent Governor role on the Board. In this case we will have an election. Here is the relevant article from the Policy and Procedures Document which outlines the process:
2.3.3 Voting
2.3.3.1 When two or more candidates are nominated, one ballot paper is issued to the parents/legal guardian of each pupil.
2.3.3.2 An effective system for the issuing, return and processing of ballot papers will be the responsibility of the Head Teacher and the administrative staff.
2.3.3.3 Votes will be counted in the presence of the Chair of the Board and the Head Teacher.
2.3.3.4 The two persons with the greatest number of votes
using the Alternative Vote method of election (i.e. allowing
voters to express an order of preference as between all the
candidates) will be elected. Spoiled votes will be disqualified.
Please find attached the relevant
CV and statements from the two
candidates and
the Ballot paper which should be returned to the
school office no later than 12 noon Monday 1st March in the
sealed envelope provided. The closing date for votes will be
Monday 1st March.
Dear Parents,
You will have seen various pieces of correspondence over the past couple of weeks, setting out concerns and complaints about the school. The Board of Governors and the British Embassy agree that each concern should be dealt with confidentially with the individual concerned.
The Board would also like to remind all parents that a Parental Concerns/Complaints Procedure exists to offer any parent the opportunity to raise concerns about the school. Our procedure is attached to this letter.
- Complaints Policy
In addition, the Board has decided that it would be useful to hold a further all-parent meeting at the beginning of the next school year, where Board members would be very happy to answer any questions or concerns that parents may have.
The Board has also decided, in the interest of increasing transparency around decision making in the school, to publish key decisions made at its meetings on the BESG website and via an email to all parents.
